Sir George Cayley's aviation career spanned almost sixty years. Commencing in 1795 until 1855. His first aeroplane design was produced in 1798, which was 101 years before the Wright Brothers (who are the acknowledged inventors of powered flight) first became interested in flying.

1795 until 1810 was his most prolific period the culmination of which was his amazing triple paper published in November 1809 and February - March 1810.

Published when he was a mere 35 years old this is the most amazing far-sighted scientific document relating to aviation ever published. Particularly so when the only means of transport were: Ships, Boats and Barges on water and travel overland by horse drawn coaches and carts or on horseback.
